Susan Blackwell (Lead)

Susan Blackwell graduated from Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, and continued at Bob Jones University working on a Master’s Degree in Education.  Classes in Special Education and in Tests/Measurements were required at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Susan taught in a Christian school, then homeschooled her 3 children, including one with multiple special needs.  She began her own consultation and testing services after several years as the Director of the Special Needs department with South Carolina’s homeschooling Option Two.  She is an approved consultant by the Home School Legal Defense Association, and  has consulted parents who have children with several diagnoses, including:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Dyslexia
  • Dyscalculia
  • Visual Impairment
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Autism
  • Down Syndrome
  • Processing Problems
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Susan began administering standardized tests while teaching in a Christian School. In the 18 years of homeschooling her own children, Susan began testing groups and individuals in various places across the state from kindergarten through 12th grade.  She continues to administer a variety of tests to students on many levels each year. Our other affiliated approved test administrators provide the assistance needed with group tests and with individuals when necessary. These ladies have years of experience in the classroom and are adept at making students comfortable with the testing environment.  Based on the test results, the team members are available to give consultations.

If you have questions about why your homeschooled child should be tested, start here!

The test administrators are approved under Bob Jones University, and A Beka Testing.  Susan also administers tests which may be more appropriate for students with special needs, including ADD/ADHD, processing issues, etc. These include: reading inventories, the Brigance Test of Basic Skills, and the Woodcock Johnson Test.

Tutoring recommendations are available as well. Tutoring service recommendations are limited to the Columbia and Spartanburg, South Carolina metropolitan areas, at this time.
